#DFS2023: A Decisive Phase of the War: Military and Political Perspectives for Ukraine and Russia

Ukrainische Soldatinnen und Soldaten bewaffnet und in Kampfbekleidung stehen angetreten in einer Reihe; ein Soldat steht im Vordergrund.

Every Thursday morning at 8:30, DGAP’s Research Institute brings together experts and high-level guests to discuss the latest developments in geopolitics. As part of the the DFS 2023, the morning briefing on 25 May will focus on the Russian war against Ukraine.

First, it will discuss expectations for the long-anticipated Ukrainian counteroffensive. Second, it will assess the internal stability of Putin’s regime and the role of Prigozhin’s Wagner Group. Then, the briefing will focus on the West: While Western support has been indispensable, there are signs of war fatigue across the Atlantic alliance. How could NATO’s relations with Ukraine evolve after the next summit of its heads of state and government that will take place in Vilnius this July?
