given US President Trump's rhetoric, there is a growing number of voices questioning America's alliance solidarity on the European continent. Do the US threaten to withdraw their commitment for transatlantic security? In our Working Paper No. 18/2018 Philipp Lange draws the opposite conclusion. He argues that America has not turned away from Europe and that US military efforts even have been increased, following a long-term strategic calculus - at least as long as continuity in the Pentagon is given.
