autonomous weapons systems have received high attention in media and security debates. In our latest Working Paper, the Federal Academy's Vice President Wolfgang Rudischhauser argues that existing semi-autonomous or guided systems, which are already used by terrorist groups, in fact constituted a much more concrete threat. Access to these technologies is getting easier every day and their commercial use will increase exponentially in the near future. Rudischhauser therefore concludes that much more attention should be paid to the risk of them being used for terrorist attacks, in particular if they are used to spread chemical, biological or radiological material.
