ISIS’s fight against the West is – after a series of attacks particularly in Europe – ever present. Yet, why does ISIS wage a war against Western states? Dr. Ulf Brüggemann, senior policy advisor at the Federal Academy for Security Policy, analyses ISIS’s perspective, places the terrorist organization’s rational within a context of action and reaction, and draws conclusions towards its overall strategy. While anticipating a years-long terroristic campaign by ISIS against the West, he outlines possible courses of action for Western states to face it properly.
