tomorrow Ukraine's new President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet German Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel. While many commentators place high hopes in Zelensky with regard to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, our latest Working Paper comes to a different conclusion: Taras Kuzio argues that due to a lack of political leeway and ongoing domestic struggles, the new president is unlikely to succeed in bringing peace to Eastern Ukraine and improve relations with Russia.
